This programme is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide holistic and compassionate end-of-life care. It covers the needs of persons with disabilities (PWDs) with terminal illnesses and their caregivers, psychosocial support and communication strategies, advance care planning and the Advance Decision on Life-Sustaining Treatment (ADLST) Ordinance, bereavement care, and self-care for healthcare professionals. The programme aims to strengthen participants’ capacity to support patients and families throughout the end-of-life journey while promoting dignity, quality of life, and professional resilience in RCHDs setting.
Day 1 Topics:
1. Basic concepts of end-of-life card
2. Explore personal associations and emotions related to end-of-life care issues
3. Increase awareness of how personal views influence care
4. Basic communication principles and barries in end-of-life care
5. End-of-life care decision discussion (Advance Decision on Life-Sustaining Treatment (ADLST) Ordinance)
Day 2 Topics:
1. Symptoms management for terminally-ill patients while staying in RCHDs at final days
2. Needs and intervention on psychosocial spiritual aspects in end-of-life care
3. Enhance the understanding of dying in place within the RCHDs setting
4. Bereavement support in RCHDs setting
